What is Brass?
Brass is an alloy primarily made from copper and zinc, known for its balance of strength, thermal conductivity, and corrosion resistance. These characteristics make it a widely used material in precision manufacturing. In CNC machining, brass is especially valued for its smooth cutting behavior and dimensional stability, allowing complex parts to be produced efficiently and with high accuracy. Its refined, gold-like appearance is an added benefit rather than the main reason it’s chosen.
At Zhan Tong, we produce our own brass raw materials, giving us full control over material consistency. Stable density and chemical composition help reduce tool wear and ensure reliable machining precision across every production run.
Types of Brass for CNC Machining
We specialize in several grades of brass to meet various industrial, environmental, and mechanical requirements:
C3604 & C36000 (Free-Cutting Brass)
Our go-to for high-volume production. These grades hit the "gold standard" with 100% machinability, offering the precise, rock-solid stability that complex electronic parts demand.
C6801 (Eco-Friendly Brass)
Built with sustainability in mind. This grade fully aligns with European RoHS and REACH directives, allowing for high-performance machining that meets strict environmental goals without compromise.
C2700 (Lead-Free Brass)
Our focus here is safety and precision. While C2700 stands out for its cold-working ductility—making it perfect for riveting—our entire Lead-Free line meets strict potable water and medical safety standards without losing that premium surface finish.
